About Us

Who is Danthonia Designs? We’re a sign-shop that makes creative, handcrafted, three-dimensional signs, in the town of Inverell, in New South Wales, Australia. We started in 2001, and at first we sold a lot of signs to properties and farms right around this area. We sculpted and painted a lot of sheep and cattle, and eventually sold entrance signs to the town of Inverell. Gradually, we started getting requests from further afield, customers on the coast who wanted gilded seashells on their signs, small businesses, schools, and then more and more requests from the other side of the Pacific, especially the USA. We shouldn’t have been too surprised really, since carved and gilded signs are a popular item especially in touristy places like Cape Cod, and Colorado.

Over the years, we tried out new ideas, and expanded the range of what we can make. We even developed an online tool which helps our customers draw up their own custom sign designs. A lot of folks make use of that, but some like to leave the designing up to us.  Either way, we still enjoy making high-quality signs by hand and shipping them around the world.

Right now you’re on our blog, but if you’re interested in looking at more of the projects we’ve done, take a look at our main website. We’d also love to hear from you, whether you’re interested in obtaining a handcrafted sign, or just have a question or dome feedback. You can follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or YouTube, subscribe to our blog (in the email subscription field to your right), or send us an email. We’d love to hear from you!

  1. Hey Donal,
Your email account is returning all of my emails. Is there an alternate address I can use?

  2. I understand you offer wood carving courses. Could you send information about these?

  3. Hi Robert, At the moment, the closest we have to a woodcarving course is our YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/1qJR6XV It would be fun to get some sort of class organised one day, too. Not sure what part of the world you’re in, but Dimitrios Klitsas, in Massachusetts has some excellent woodcarving classes (not specific to sign-carving): http://bit.ly/1nSX1Zy
